The Organization

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Starting as a support and study group among Black students, Alpha Phi Alpha eventually developed into the first inter-collegiate Greek-letter organization for African-Americans. Our founding Jewels laid the foundation for our organization based on the principles of Scholarship, Fellowship, Good Character, and the Uplifting of Humanity, and started the idea of Black Greek life for all organizations that followed.
